Who: The Dunns (me - 38, DH - 34, DS - 6, DD - 4

Where: CRT, Breakfast

When: Tuesday a.m., 2008

What: 2 adults, 2 kids breakfast

Approximate Price of Entrees: I paid for this in advance so I don't remember (and this is a good thing because the food totally wasn't worth it)

Rate the following (1-5, five being the best!)
Food: 3

Service: 5
Atmosphere: 5.0. Its the CASTLE!
Okay for Children: absolutely
Okay for Couples: sure
Be Sure to Try: Taking pictures of an empty Fantasyland from the 2nd floor. Also take plenty of pictures in front of the castle (solo, with family, next to Walt's statue, etc.) with no people around. I just had to think that part of the price of the meal was getting access to MK before the rest of the world and taking near deserted pictures of the park. It was magical.

General tips: If you have kids, make sure they dress up for the pictures. We dressed our daughter up as Cinderella and our son was in his Mickey Mouse costume. It was adorable.

TheMouseForLess tips: Pay when you book 180 days out so that cost is already out of the way well before your trip. Made it feel like a "free" meal for us.

Extra Comments: We were on the DDP but didn't use it for this meal because it was 2 credits.

Who: Linda N, DS (age 13), DD (age 11), Caroline W and her DD (age 9)

Where: Cinderella's Royal Table Dinner

When: January 26, 2008, right before Pirate and Princess Party at MK

What: Three Prime Rib dinners and Two Pork Tenderloin meals. One bowl of corn and crab chowder, a spring roll (sort of a strong ginger-y taste) an Applewood Bacon Salad and Castle Salads w/raspberry viniagrette.

Approximate Price of Entrees: I really don't know! Podium said it was $49.99 for the adult dinner. Caroline had the reservation and we went over to meet her at the Contemporary. (I've helped her with about three Disney trips.) The kids were getting along really well and they had the reservation they could not cancel without penalty. We tagged along up to the podium and were ready to not go in if they could not accommodate. When she checked in it turns out that Disney booked for three instead of two, and three people sit at a larger table than two. It wasn't hard for the restaurant to accommodate. The fact that they closed early due to the Pirate and Princess Party also probably worked in our favor. They had the dining plan but were planning on paying out of pocket, and I have a DDE card. My total for three people was $129.49 ($43.16 each including tax and tip.) The server used the DDE card for the entire table so Caroline ended up with a nice discount as well.

Rate the following (1-5, five being the best!) 5.0. Its the Castle!
Food: 4.5 - surprisingly it was quite good. My prime rib was medium well, just like I requested. It had a cabernet sauce which was quite good--just not enough of it. Had we not been chatting so much I would have ordered more sauce. DD polished off her pork tenderloin (but skipped the mushrooms, which had a sweet sauce). DS pretty much ate everything on his plate except for the potatoes (which were also really good.) Caroline's DD also did a darn good job on that big piece of beef. Desserts are a bit pedestrian for such a grand meal though. Not even a creme brulee on the menu. LOL (Creme brulee is everywhere at Disney!) There was a chocolate buckle with cream cheese (was just a muffin with a filling), poached pear, and raspberry sorbet. I had the chocolate buckle which was good but nothing to rave about, DD had the pear which she enjoyed (but the pear was really small)and Caroline had the sorbet (which she didn't really eat.) Caroline's DD had the best dessert of all though: a bowl of vanilla ice cream with a chocolate crown on it.

Service: 5.0. Cheerful and happy server who had been with Disney for quite a child in various roles in the company. Knew the menu and the venue.
Atmosphere: 5.0. Its the CASTLE!
Okay for Children: Uh, yeah. Its THE CASTLE.!
Okay for Couples: You bet. This is probably among the best places for couples.
Be Sure to Try: It was all good. At least the stuff that came to our table was good. The cinnamon butter with the pretzel bread was odd though.

General tips: There are NO CHARACTERS in the dining room signing autographs. Cinderella is in the lobby and she poses for photos and signs books. There is a show during the dinner time where Suzy and Perla arrive and dance around the tables. Then the Fairy Godmother comes in and sings a bit and recognizes events. It really was quite nice and classy and the show just added to the special atmosphere of being in the castle.

TheMouseForLess tips: Absolutely nothing "For Less" about this meal. At two credits on the dining plan, and fifty bucks per adult plate, its a big budget-buster. This was totally unplanned and impulsive (I never spend this much on food in two days at Disney) but since it sort of fell in my lap with my Disney friend I decided to take the plunge and go. After all, its THE CASTLE!!! I've probably done the breakfast four or five times and feel rushed in there. But the dinner was a very classy affair. The food was quite good.

Extra Comments: Arrive early, and dress up for photos. As part of your dinner package you receive a really nice photo of the family with Cinderella (who sits in the lobby) and four 4x6 photos. They're in a souvenier folder. Girls get a wand and boys get a sword.

So my short and cheap trip is no longer cheap... but would YOU turn down a meal in the castle if it sort of fell into your lap? We had to eat, and its only money. Hadn't been in the castle in a while and had never done the dinner. Was "worth it" to me to do this meal even though it was not anywhere close to being in the plan.

Who: Dunn Family (Jason - 32, Leslie Ann - 37, Charles - 4 and Maddie - 2)

Where: CRT - Dinner Feast

When: Wednesday 3/8/06

What: Dinner - fixed price meal. Appetizers: Corn crab chowder, veggie spring roll, cheese/veggies/apples with ranch for dipping (for kids); entrees: roasted pork loin over cheese risotto; prime rib (medium rare) with scalloped potatoes; plain ziti pasta for infant (free); baked ziti with meat sauce (child's meal); dessert: blueberry crumble with lemon ice cream; chocolate cake with raspberry sauce; sundaes for the kids

Approximate Price of Entrees: $115 (including discount for DDE card, AND having one child eat free) PRICE INCLUDED TIP, AND PHOTO PKG WITH CINDERELLA - THIS WAS REALLY A GREAT DEAL

Rate the following (1-5, five being the best!)
Food: 4
Service: 4.5
Atmosphere: 5+++
Okay for Children: Absolutely!!!
Okay for Couples: Yes - but be prepared to see LOTS of little princesses running around!
Be Sure to Try: Both of our apps were wonderful. We loved the corn/crab chowder (a little kick to it) and the veggie spring roll. The other app was the BLT salad, and personally I thought it looked a little "ordinary" so we didn't go for that - you can get that kind of thing anywhere. Hubby thought the pork was a little tough, and my slab of prime rib was SO VERY HUGE I couldn't finish it (and I can usually finish most anything.) I gave extra to hubby, and he couldn't even finish it. So... come hungry.
I was very disappointed with the desserts - would call them "ordinary" at best. Of the desserts we had, the Lemon ice cream was the best. I thought the chocolate mousse cake was very ordinary, and we didn't end up finishing that either.

General tips: Use DDE card, and request to sit next to the window so you can see the sunset over Fantasyland. We were by the elevator, which was fine - but we were in the traffic flow. Fairy Godmother comes out and does this big routine and interacts with everyone seated on the floor, so if you want that, request to be seated on the floor. Personally, I would prefer being by the stained glass windows.
Also, I think everyone automatically thinks of "Breakfast" when they think of CRT - and we got dinner ressies for 4 like TWO WEEKS OUT! So - don't overlook doing dinner, because it was really a nice thing. Our ressies were at 5:50, so it worked out that we were finished about 20 minutes before Wishes started.

TheMouseForLess tips: The prime rib was HUGE. Also, use DDE card and tell them this when you make ressies. They didn't ask for my # over the phone - but I did have to show the card when I got there. One GOOD thing about this is that you have to pay for this meal at the time you order (and it includes tip!), so it is a nice feeling to know that you show up, eat, and you aren't even worried about the bill, or how much you are spending because it is already paid for. That was a major plus with the budget.

Extra Comments: We had to wait about 15 minutes to be photographed with Cinderella! We had our daughter in a cute dress, but lots of girls were DECKED OUT in FRESH cindy outfits - like their parents had a bag at the park just for the dress. Also they had crown, shoes, bows in hair, etc. - something to keep in mind if you are into that. I thought having her in a cute dress would have been enough, but she was just in awe seeing all of the other little princesses walking around. The photos we got were GREAT and are normally priced around $26 at other character buffets (like Chef Mickey or Restaurantosaurus) so if you think about the price of this, minus discount for DDE and the fact that pictures are included, this was really a great deal.

Who: Riordan Family - dh, myself, dd-7, ds-6

Where: Cinderellas Royal Table, Magic Kingdom

When: January 22, 2006

What: Breakfast - All you can eat, served at the table.

Approximate Price of Entrees: DDP - would have paid approx. $100

Rate the following (1-5, five being the best!)
Food: 3 - we really weren't into the food they had. Eggs, some bacon, sausage, a fruit filled pastry, etc. It was decent, just not our style.
Service: 5! Our waiter was hysterical! He really made it fun for my son - who was complaining about getting kissed by all the princesses!
Atmosphere: 5 - wonderful! A true fairytale setting.
Okay for Children: Yes
Okay for Couples: Yes
General tips: MUST have ADRs. Get there a little bit early so you can get in line for the pictures with Cinderella as soon as possible -before the line gets unbearable.

TheMouseForLess tips: DDP

Extra Comments: The picture we received was priceless! A great memory.

Who: Anderson Family

When: Jan 22 2006

What: Lunch - kid's appetizer of fruits and cheese, Adult's tasting plate(good stuff), Kids chicken strips and pretzel dogs, Major Domo's pie and Pork Tenderloin

Food: 4
Service: 3
Atmosphere: 5
Okay for Children: YES, lots of princess interaction
Okay for Couples: Yes, wonderful atmoshphere and decor
Be Sure to Try: adult sampler very good, Major Domo pie is very good

General tips: Make ADR asap! There is a restroom in the lobby great for changing little princesses into their dresses. The veiw from tables by the windows is the best!!!!!!

Extra Comments: Loved celebrating my Bday , got us a great seat with a view and a bit more attention fro kid's from characters! Not sure if we will return at 2TS credits though.

Who: The Titus Family

Where: Cinderella's Royal Table (Magic Kingdom / Fantasyland)

When: 12/11/2005

What: breakfast - standard plated breakfast (eggs, sausage, bacon, danish, fruit)

Approximate Price of Entrees: adult $17.99 child $9.99

Rate the following (1-5, five being the best!)
Food: 3
Service: 2
Atmosphere: 5
Okay for Children: Yes
Okay for Couples: Yes
Be Sure to Try: nothing stood out

General tips: HAVE to make that seating as early as possible! Try to get in before the park opens!!

Extra Comments: Beautiful restaurant! If you get a seating before the park opens, be sure to take castle pics! There's no crowds in the pics!!! The downside? Our service was terribly slow and the food was no longer warm. :( Sadly, the princesses seemed very rushed and breezed by the tables. On the up side, we saw Cinderella, Princess Aurora (Sleeping Beauty), Fairy Godmother, Belle, Snow White, and Mary Poppins.

Who: Angela G. and family Angela, Allan(dh), William(ds)

Where: Cinderella's Royal Table breakfast-Magic Kingdom

When: 10/3/2005

What: Breakfast 8:19am- 2-Adults Breakfast, 1 child Breakfast

Approximate Price of Entrees: total 80.16 with tax and tip

Rate the following (1-5, five being the best!)
Food: 4
Service: 3 or server was not very attentive
Atmosphere: 5 in the castle, 1 for character interaction
Okay for Children: Our son loves the princesses but they did not spend any time to talk to him. It was take a quick picture only with the child and then they left just a hello and nothing else. How disappointing for a little boy who adores the princesses but would never admit it to his friends.
Okay for Couples: Yes, but I think it is best left for kids since it is so hard to get.
Be Sure to Try: Nothing was all that great to eat here but maybe I just expected more.

General tips: Maybe encourage the princesses to interact a bit more. For speaking characters they interacted less than the non speaking characters we encountered at meals.

TheMouseForLess tips: You can eat as much as you want so ask for seconds of anything you need if you can find your server.

Extra Comments: I didn't feel this place was worth the hype. We would not go back for breakfast but dinner was good.

Okay for Children: Yes, how awesome to eat in a castle.
Okay for Couples: Yes, romantic we even got to share in a man asking for his girlfriend to marry him. They sat them right by the window and afterward they got to watch the fireworks outside. To think my husband asked me to marry him while driving in the car. Hopefully, my son learned how to get engaged in a romantic way. lol
Be Sure to Try: My son and I loved the Prime Rib and my husband loved the Lamb. The chocolate cake was awesome and my son had fun with building his own castle out of his dessert.

General tips: These meals were huge for us and we took our desserts to go in styrofoam boxes.

TheMouseForLess tips: Look around at everything. Don't miss Cinderella's mouse up in the rafters downstairs in the waiting room. Cinderella was in the waiting area for pictures as well. The Holiday cut of prime rib was not on the menu but when the waitress heard I was splitting it with my son she offered the bigger cut. It was huge.

Extra Comments: The food was great and so was the service. I will never forget the engagement we saw.

Who: The Hicks FamilyMe, DH, DD5

Where: Cinderella's Royal Table

When: August 11, 2005

What: Character Breakfast

Approximate Price of Entrees: Plated meal with typical breakfast fare and stuffed French toast. Total for 2 adults, 1 child, tax and tip, $72.00

Rate the following (1-5, five being the best!)
Food: 4
Service: 4
Atmosphere: 5
Okay for Children: Yes, especially Princess Lovers
Okay for Couples: Yes
Be Sure to Try: Stuffed French toast. Yummy!

General tips: ADR's are a must. Even though the servers and characters seam staged (like they are programmed), it was easy for us to take our time and enjoy the food, and the view! Incredible.

TheMouseForLess tips: I can't say enough about the Dining Plan. We are a family that prefers sitting to eat, rather then eating on the run. And one major goal was to meet as many characters as possible. The Dining Plan is the only way to go in our case!

Extra Comments: We got the coveted 8am reservations and were done before the park opened. But the walk to the castle without anyone in the park was terrific! Also, if I had to do this over, I wouldn't make the reservations for our first day in the park. I think we would have enjoyed the view and time more, rather then feeling like we needed to get into the park as soon as possible.
