Linda's Patriotic Mickey Ribbons

This is a step-by-step instruction on how to make a Mickey icon ribbon pin.

Materials needed:

* Red, white blue ribbons – The ribbons can be as wide or narrow as the individual prefers, just make sure they are different width so that the individual colors can be seen when the pin is completed.

* Hot glue gun – Either high melt or low melt can be used. I prefer hot glue gun over tacky glue because no "drying time" is required with hot glue.

* scissors

* pin back

* flexi-foam hearts (these can either be purchased in a pre-cut package as seen in the picture or cut from a flexi-foam sheet).

* stars and strips printed on paper (from clip arts or downloaded from the web)

* Mickey Mouse icon paper punch (the Mickey Mouse icon shape can simply be cut with the scissors without the use of the paper punch as well)

-- I purchased my materials from Michaels Arts and Crafts, but have seen them in most other arts and craft stores as well.

Step 1:
Cut the ribbons into 9" strips, choose/cut the flexi-foam hearts and punch/cut the Mickey Mouse icon.

Step 2:
Place a dab of the hot glue on the blue ribbon at 2", put the white ribbon on the blue ribbon. Place a dab of the hot glue on the white ribbon at 2", put the red ribbon on top of the white ribbon

Step 3:
Fold the ribbon over having both red side on top. Place a dab of hot glue on the "bottom" red ribbon and place the blue ribbon on top leaving about 2" for the end. Place a dab of hot glue on the blue ribbon and press the white ribbon to the blue ribbon. Lastly, place a dab of hot glue on the white ribbon and press the red ribbon onto the white ribbon.

Step 4:
Place a dab of hot glue at the intersection where the ribbons cross and press the red flexi-foam heart to the ribbon.

Step 5:
Place a dab of hot glue on the white flexi-foam heart. Center the white heart over the red flexi-foam heart and press to secure. Place a tiny amount of hot glue on the Mickey Mouse icon and glue it onto the white flexi-foam heart. Be extremely careful on this step. Even the low-temp. hot glue is very hot and can burn.

Step 6:
Cut the ribbon ends to a more pleasing diagonal.

Step 7:
Place a generous dab of hot glue on the back of the ribbon and press the pin back to the ribbon. At this point the pin is finished.

Below are some different variations of pin that I have made.
