Toy Story Mania
Opening Date: Late May, 2008
Annual Passholder Preview Days: May 10 - May 12, 2008
Toy Story Mania's Annual Pass Holder preview is being held this weekend. Carol Vandiver of The Mouse For Less and Linda Norton of The Magic For Less Travel were there today to review the ride for us. Watch for pictures and personal reviews to be added throughout the day!
The wait for the new Toy Story Mania stand by was 90 minutes long in the sun, so Carol opted to go through the single rider's line... She ended up riding the ride for 6 times!!!
Her 5th time around was through the regular queue because she heard that you miss a lot bypassing the queue.
There were no pictures sent from the queue line through because she was having too much fun playing to be taking pictures!
Ride Review by Linda Norton of The Magic For Less Travel:
Just back from Passholder Preview for TSM. This is an AWESOME attraction and I loved it (although I hate BLock Party Bash). Line was horrendous: we queued up at 9:30am and didn't get off until noon. Its six minutes long. The very long queue is designed to hold lots and lots of guests. Queue wide enough for scooters and wheelchairs too. What is strange is that to get on the attraction you're in line and then go up a set of longish stairs, to a landing for a little bit, and then down the stairs to load. The wheelchairs (mom was in a chair today as its 93 degrees and she can't stand or walk for great lengths) have a ramp, and it is very slow loading. If she had been able to do stairs we would have ditched the chair. There are two ride vehicles set up for wheelchairs. Each vehicle seats eight (four rows of two) but the wheelchair modified vehicles will seat three rows of two, plus the wheelchair. They do not put three in a seat (or so they told me today.)
Theming is amazing: they've done it so we're about the size of green army guys and its like we're walking through a toybox or a messy room. Ceiling is a checkerboard and a bgame board for Chutes and Ladders. The floor is Candyland. Very cool and plenty of neat things to look at while standing. Out on Mickey Avenue its been changed to Pixar. Really looks great.
Downfalls? There is no "chicken exit." To get out you have to go backwards through the Fastpass lane. Also, its very tiring to keep pulling the string to shoot at the targets. The faster you pull the string the more balls/rings come out, and the more points you can get. When the ride is delayed the targets are zero points, so its not like you can sit there and rack up points while you're stuck like you can at Buzz LIghtyear.
